The yin and yang symbol is such an elegant solution and simple explanation for a concept that is anything but. Absolutely nothing in this universe is simple though. It is all a highly complex orchestration conducted by the Divine. This simple explanation is merely a tool for the human mind to make sense of this complexity. But it does nothing to truly elucidate the intricacy of the nature of this dualistic relationship. Within this polarity lies the energy of Divine Chaos. Chaos in physics is defined as behavior so unpredictable as to appear random, owing to great sensitivity to small changes in conditions. Small changes in conditions, degrees or clicks of calibration to either side does not make for a matrix that truly operates on the concept of polarity. The true meaning of polarity is the state of having two opposite or contradictory tendencies, opinions, or aspects. This would mean that absolutely everything would operate in terms of exact opposites, but there are countless examples and instances in this world where difference is but a slight click off from the original, not a complete 180-degree opposition. We often hear of free will versus destiny, and while it is true that we all make our own choices, all of those choices are guided by an invisible hand, and those choices set off a chain of corresponding events. Absolutely nothing in this Universe is random. There is Divine orchestration and order even within chaos. The purpose of chaos, much like the Tower card in the tarot, is to reorganize your life when it has become too stagnant, too mundane, too predictable. Within the unpredictability lies both the possibility of freedom and magic if you have the ability to step out of your zone of comfort and embrace a new perspective.
What if the forces of polarity are not in opposition to each other? What if instead, they are working in full cooperation with each other? What if they are not really equal, but rush to fill the gap, the vacuum, when the moment requires it. More of one element than the other at any given moment, a melding and melting of boundaries? What if everything we thought was ironed out and set in stone really isn’t, but instead runs on and operates through Divine Order, Divine Measure, Divine Chaos, and Divine Intelligence? Never truly equal, but each element important and necessary to the very fabric of our reality? There is so much still within this Universe that lies in the realm of the unexplained. Concepts that we still cannot wrap our human minds around, because to do so would change the very nature of how we view our entire existence. Science, although a very important and helpful tool in this human realm still does not hold all the answers. EVERYTHING IS NOT BLACK AND WHITE, AND WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE SO. Most of our lives operate on shades of grey always, not black or white, because there are always multiple angles in which to view situations and events.
To illuminate this point, I will give you an example that was used in my Philosophy 101 class in college. This is something all children are taught to differentiate between good and bad. We are taught as children that stealing is inherently bad. In simple terms, it is so easy to see how this concept can be reduced to black and white thinking, but add some context and then the waters become more muddied. In my example a man is caught stealing money. Viewed through the simplistic lens of good and bad, black and white, positive and negative, this is bad right? But once we add the context of his life situation things look a lot different, more complex, with many different shades and nuance. The money that the man stole was to be used to pay for an experimental cancer treatment for his wife, which was the only treatment option left in order to arrest her terminal diagnosis. The man only decided to take this drastic (bad) action because their health insurance company refused to cover this treatment because it had not gone through the rigorous approval process. This man would do anything is order to save his wife’s life. This action when viewed through the lens with context applied now becomes much more difficult to classify as either good or bad. These simplistic concepts now bleed together creating a nebulous grey area, neither black, nor white. This is but one example that illustrates the problem with true polarity, there are countless other examples that call into question the simplicity of black and white thinking. Not everything can fit into a tidy box with a bow on it and furthermore it was never meant to.
Because of the easy comprehensibility of the concept of polarity it is used as a tool by those in power to maintain control. Polarity breeds crisis and is used to control, debase, dehumanize, categorize, and divide. Us versus Them, Good versus Evil, Love versus Hate, etc. The urgency and simplicity of the black and white argument obliterates objection to the mechanisms of control. Black and White thinking is what is known in philosophy as the slippery slope fallacy, that one action inevitably leads to a certain outcome. Inevitability is a very tricky thing indeed, as free will always gets added into the mixture, muddying the supposed perfectly known outcome.
There is no extreme, stark separation of polarities or opposites. All of it bleeds together. Everything is comprised of infinite shades of grey or colors as the case may be. What if, instead of a world of opposites, everything really operates on a spectrum? Much like a rainbow, each color bleeds into the next, and the last color in the spectrum naturally bleeds into the first color. There are no boundaries. There are no borders. Definitions are meant to be stretched and expanded, they are not strict and metered.
The symbol of yin and yang is such an elegant and seamless representation of polarity. Within this ancient symbol lies two small dots presented within each side. An element of the opposite side lying nestled within. Each element is not separate, but united, even if it is only in a small measure. The separation that is implied by the simplicity of the representation of this symbol is what they want to foster within us. To keep us forever separated and in division, serves to keep those in power and control always at the helm. The separation lies only within our minds. To buy into this separation keeps us easily controlled and very small, never achieving our full unlimited and powerful potential.
The amalgam that is created when these elements are combined is far stronger than any pure separated element. When black and white combine they create grey. Grey symbolizes neutrality, balance, equilibrium, and pure unlimited potential. It acts as a mediator between extremes and signals introspection and self-reflection leading to greater understanding and insight. It is the beginning of a journey towards lighter energies. Symbolizing sophistication, refinement, complexity, evolution, and transformation. Everyone describes grey as if it is just a dirty combining of the two pure colors, but in the melding and blending it grows stronger and contains a wisdom that is not available in the colors when they are separate.
Black is merely the absence of light, yet contains all the colors of the spectrum. White is the pure presence of light and also contains the entire spectrum of colors. So, are these two elements really so different or is it how we choose to see them? The lens we come into this life with makes all the difference in how we interpret which side something falls in the black and white argument.
Black symbolizes protection, strength, authority, the unknown, mystery, hidden wisdom, the subconscious, stability, grounding, endings, and the potential for transformation.
White symbolizes innocence, purity, enlightenment, spiritual awakening, peace, harmony, and new beginnings.
Rainbow is the symbol of the Divine promise, hope, peace, transformation, a bridge between worlds, transformation, and new beginnings.
We have come to a time when many are awakening and will continue to do so. The awakening process is like the Tower, the great flash of lightning, jolting you awake to what your true nature is. Not a world of black and whites, but a beautiful rainbow-colored, heart ever-expanding and able to weigh all sides, a place without boundaries, without limits, a place of true freedom. A spectrum that is always and forever balancing itself. There are no mistakes in this Universe. Everything has its purpose and its time. The Golden Age of true enlightenment is upon us and it cannot be turned back no matter how much those who have been in control may want it. Division and polarity is not the way of the future and it was never going to be. Unity, cooperation, balance, integrity, generosity, and love are.
